Director's Statement

I've always wanted to do romantic films. For my Advanced Film Production class at Mahidol University in Thailand, where I enroolled, I needed to come up with a final project. Then I had this feature idea about the magic; that there are two seperate worlds -- one in reality and another in the diary. It turned out that I wanted to explore this concept more therefore I chose this concept for my classwork.

It was the second time I went through my own production. First was Charcoal, also a student project. More or less, The Diary gave me a headache all the way through from pre-production through post-production. Yet, the final product made me proud. As I got involved deeper, I tweaked the film until it is purely and truly mine. The Diary expresses the meaning of love and romance through feelings of my own -- that is, true love is spiritually unconditional.
